I painted this colorful scene of a horse grazing in New Zealand photographed by my high school friend Ilana Wolstein. I saw the photo and was inspired by its composition and mood. When I pictured the painting in my mind, I wanted to execute a surreal vibe mixed with the natural colors of the landscape. You can see the more natural colors in the grass and trees. I didn’t decide to make the sky pink until the very end. I love color and it felt more me with the bright sky.
