I painted this original oil painting in Big Sky, Montana for my mom in 2024. For half of the year it sat in the guest room unfinished and that apparently got a lot of people very excited! I was happy to get back and finish the piece and I’m very pleased with how it turned out. When I got there, I had 6 days to myself. I put the easel in the snow overlooking lone mountain and was a pretty magical painting sesh. I love that I went outside of my usual color pallet, medium and style with this piece. It’s like going on a field trip. I like when a client gives me the color pallet that they want. It forces me to break the mold and feel creatively fulfilled. When given the freedom to choose colors-I tend to choose them all.
